Cycling is a healthy activity. Riding a bike - whether for fun, sport or transport - is a healthy way to get around. And improving health is one of the main reasons people try cycling.
Cycling England's cycling and health strategy sets out our plans for this area of work for the next three years, and can be downloaded from this site.

Government departments have several major programmes designed to encourage regular physical activity, a healthy lifestyle, and greater accessibility for our communities. Cycling England is helping to ensure the inclusion of cycling within these programmes. With obesity one of the major public health issues facing this country today, any activity that gets people moving is a step in the right direction.
Public health specialists with expertise in promoting physical activity have been appointed to advise and assist Cycling England in developing this programme theme.
Cycling and Health - What's the evidence?
Cycling England has also recently produced a report which brings together for the first time much of the existing research into the various health benefits of cycling. The 'Cycling and Health - What's the evidence?' report is designed to be an essential reference guide for health practitioners and provide a solid platform for action. The report can be downloaded by clicking the link above, and hard copies can be obtained by calling the Press Office on 020 7260 2782.
